Tinkering: I agree !!

I love the teaching method of cooperative learning -- Tinkering is (in my opinion) a kind of very elaborated coop learning theory emphasizing creativity -- so I love Tinkering :) While watching John Seely Brown's video, I realized that my practicum associated teacher is nearly using Tinkering method. Her students were always encouraged to use their creativity for every kind of activities. They were also always working in groups and criticizing others (in a constructive way) and I really enjoyed her way of teaching. I'm pretty sure that this way of teaching will be quite popular by the time we become real teachers, and thats a nice thing ! Well if not, I will use it myself ;)

Computer class management

Okay, first of all, THANK YOU MARK for giving us the most interesting and useful class of all the session and I would even say of our entire first year. We want concrete! We want examples of what happens in real life and what are common situations in a teacher's career. The class concerning classroom management was just amazing! It gave us the opportunity to TRULY reflect on how we will act in the future and organize our classroom, which is almost never the case in our other courses.. It also gave me the opportunity to think about my behaviour towards my future students.. overall, what a GREAT class :) We want some more like these ! Even if its just to share about the little experience we have acquired till now and what's going on in our practicum. Will it be another class like this one before the end of the semester?

Open-sourced tools

I read Mark's post about open-sourced softwares and especially LINUX. These days, I am hearing about this famous LINUX more than ever and I would really like to know why the hell is it supposed to be ''better'' ?? What are the advantages of using it? For what kind of users is it useful to install such a program? Is it faster? Is it hard to install? Are there any disadvantages of using it? Thanks for answering !!

The accessibility of one's identity via internet is starting to freak me out. I'm about to close my facebook page : Maybe not that much .. because as a real facebook addict I couldn't REALLY think about doing this.. but at least I think I'll take off a couple of compromising picture .. that I definitely don't want any future employer to see ! The article about Online Identity Management made me realise how many employers were actually searching on the web to find their future employees..-

now lets get to the real purpose of this blog

After watching 4 videos about technology and school in my computer applications class, I can say that I am definitely happy about being in this new generation of (future) teachers who will have to deal with technology in their classrooms. Fortunately, we are aware of most of the softwares/applications/other technological stuff that our students will be using. I just hope I will never look like those teachers who are not able to keep up with what's ''in'' for their students to use, even in the end of my carreer. These videos made me realize that following the technology is more important than it has ever been (of course..!). Plus, I love the idea of presenting Powerpoints instead of wasting all those poor trees :)

first blogging experience. ever.

JUST 4 U ---> a beautiful introduction :)
Actually I don't feel very comfortable with the fact that anyone could read what goes on my mind during my crazy cerative moments.. So I'll keep it sweet and simple and try not to talk about death and skulls and blood :P
